RAINWEAR

Bring Separate Jacket-and-Pants Rainwear

On Mt. Fuji, you need to prepare not only for rain, but also for strong wind and low temperatures. Proper hiking rainwear can also work as an important protective layer against the cold.

Do Not Use

Simple disposable raincoats or ponchos are not recommended

Simple raincoats sold at 100-yen shops may tear in strong wind or fail to keep your body dry. For climbing Mt. Fuji, please prepare proper hiking rainwear with a separate jacket and pants.

Basic clothing for sunny weather

Dry sweat quickly and regulate body temperature

  • Quick-drying T-shirt
  • Comfortable hiking pants
  • Leggings
  • Jacket or warm layer if needed

Cotton T-shirts do not dry easily and can make your body cold during breaks. Quick-drying materials such as polyester are recommended.

Basic clothing for rainy weather

Wear hiking rainwear on both the upper and lower body

Wear rain pants over your trousers as well as a rain jacket. If wet clothing is exposed to strong wind, your body temperature can drop quickly. Do not put rainwear deep inside your backpack; keep it where you can take it out quickly.
