Transportation, accommodation, meals and mountain guide services are arranged together, making the full itinerary easy to understand even if this is your first guided climb in Japan.

Round-trip bus from Shinjuku

Meet at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building large-bus parking lot and travel by designated bus to and from the Fujinomiya 5th Station.

High-altitude mountain hut

Stay primarily at Mannenyuki Sanso at the 9th Station, approximately 3,400 meters above sea level, reducing the distance to the summit on Day 2.

Your guide will monitor the weather, trail conditions and participants, adjusting the pace or itinerary when required for safety.

FUJINOMIYA TRAIL

Mt. Fuji Fujinomiya Trail

This tour follows the Fujinomiya Trail on the Shizuoka side of Mt. Fuji. Of the mountain’s four main climbing routes, it has the shortest distance from the trailhead to the summit.

The same trail is used for both ascent and descent. The gradient is relatively steep, with rocky sections along the route. Your guide will monitor each participant’s fitness, pace and condition and lead the group at a sustainable speed.

  • The trailhead starts at a high altitude, resulting in a shorter distance to the summit
  • There are many rocky sections, so extra care is required during the descent
  • Climbers ascending and descending share the same trail and must give way when it is busy
  • Depending on conditions, the group may return to the Fujinomiya 5th Station via the Prince Route

Each tour is planned for approximately 5-10 participants, with an average group size of about six. If there are more than 10 participants, an additional mountain guide will be assigned for safety.

Participation requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Physically fit enough to climb Mt. Fuji
  • Previous hiking experience, or sufficient training before the tour
  • Able to follow the guide’s instructions and mountain rules

First-time hikers may join, but Mt. Fuji involves prolonged exercise at high altitude. Please train beforehand through walking, stair climbing or day hikes.

    01 What happens if there are not enough participants?
    The tour may be cancelled if the required number of participants is not reached. In principle, we will notify you two weeks before departure. If the organizer cancels the tour, all tour fees already paid will be refunded in full.
    02 Can I request a date not listed on this page?
    Yes. Dates not listed on this page are arranged as private Mt. Fuji climbing tours. Guide and mountain hut availability must be confirmed, so we recommend enquiring as early as possible.
    03 How does the tour operate, and what should I know?
    The tour travels by designated bus from Shinjuku to the Fujinomiya 5th Station. Late arrival affects both the bus and the entire group, so departure cannot be delayed. Please arrive before the 06:40 meeting time. You may be unable to join if you are late.
    04 Can you book only the mountain hut for me?
    Unfortunately, we do not offer a mountain-hut-only booking service. If you only need accommodation, please book directly with the mountain hut.
    05 Can I rent climbing equipment?
    Yes. Required Mt. Fuji equipment such as hiking boots, a waterproof jacket and trousers, a headlamp and a backpack can be rented. There are no changing facilities at the Fujinomiya 5th Station. We recommend delivery to your accommodation in advance, or collection from a shop in Shinjuku so you can change before reaching the meeting point.View Climbing Equipment Rental
    06 Are meals included in the tour price?
    Dinner on Day 1 and breakfast on Day 2 are included. Lunch on both days, as well as drinks and snacks during the climb, are not included and must be prepared separately.
    07 How much is the Mt. Fuji climbing fee?
    The fee is JPY 4,000 per person. It is not included in the tour price and must be paid separately by each participant.     08 What climbing equipment do I need?
    You need equipment suitable for climbing Mt. Fuji, including hiking boots, a waterproof jacket and trousers, warm layers, a headlamp and a backpack.     09 Does the tour operate in the rain?
    In principle, the tour operates in rain. However, the itinerary may be changed or the tour cancelled when safety cannot be assured due to a typhoon, strong winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, trail closure or similar conditions. The final decision will be based on the weather forecast and conditions on site.
    10 Is there a cancellation fee?

    11 Can beginner hikers join?
    Beginners may join, but Mt. Fuji involves high altitude and long walking hours, so booking without training is not recommended. Before departure, build the endurance needed for prolonged walking through walks, stair climbing and day hikes.View Mt. Fuji Training Advice (page in progress)
    12 Is the Mt. Fuji Fujinomiya Trail difficult?
    The Fujinomiya Trail has the shortest distance to the summit of Mt. Fuji’s four main routes. However, it is relatively steep and rocky, placing a considerable load on the legs, particularly during the descent. Beginners may find it challenging. Depending on participants’ fitness and pace, the weather and trail conditions, the guide may descend from the summit toward the Gotemba Trail and return to the Fujinomiya 5th Station via the Prince Route. Safety will always be the highest priority.
    13 Can we watch the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Fuji?
    The planned itinerary is to watch the sunrise from the summit. However, depending on the weather, trail congestion, participants’ condition and walking pace, sunrise may occur before the group reaches the summit. Safety comes first, so viewing sunrise from the summit cannot be guaranteed.
